Banned from Game 7

It is official.  I have been banned from watching game 7.  Well, not entirely.  I have just be banned from watching the game with my wife.  Allow me to explain. Hailing from the province of Nova Scotia, the better half of the Greener household has been rooting for homeboy Sidney Crosby and the Penguins since the start of the playoffs.  Not that she is on

End of Season Blahs

End of Season Blahs

I know, I know…..the season is not over yet.  There is still game 6 and potentially even a game 7 to be played in the Stanley Cup final.  But once that final game is over, there is little to look forward to until next September when training camps open.  Oh, there is the entry draft in June where I annually pray that the Leafs will finally land

On the ropes

On the ropes

My days of prognosticating are over.  Four times I have tried to pick the winner of each Cup game and three times I have been wrong.  Clairvoyant I am not.  But on a brighter note, we do have a series!  Pittsburgh held serve and tied the series up with some spectacular work from Fleury, Crosby, Malkin and Staal.  In the second period, with the Wings up by a goal and getting

A view from Troost

A view from Troost

***submission from an avid reader of puckdrop.ca****** Federov, Kozlov, Nylander and Brashear.  All four play for the Washington Capitals, the team one drug peddler has claimed he sold steroids in the past.   All four of those players are past their primes, when steroids can greatly extend careers (see baseball’s Roger Clemens).  All four are free agents and Federov and Kozlov have signed with the Russian league KHL for next season with rumors that Brashear and Nylander will as well over the summer.  Want to know what the KHL’s drug policy is?  There isn’t one.  It all may just be a coincidence but the timing seems a little suspect that 4 older players would defect from the team that has been in the news for the wrong reasons.  Just saying……

Pardon my Interruption you moron!

Pardon my Interruption you moron!

Normally after a game day I use this time to discuss the action from the previous night.  However, I trust you all saw the game or at least caught the highlights so I rather take this opportunity to discuss something I caught last night before I was joined by Alfie that has me pretty worked up.   Canada’s TSN is owned by the American network ESPN and every day

Who’s your daddy?

Who’s your daddy?

After watching Malkin trying to fight with Zetterberg last night I found myself wondering just who is teaching these Russian kids to fight?  Malkin’s attempt at pugilism was almost as shameful as Alex Semin’s sorry display against Marc Staal earlier this season (see video’s below).  I have not seen that amount of bitch-slapping on TV since I mistakenly stopped on a Jerry Springer show titled “My wife is a lesbian.  Does that make me gay?” a couple of years ago.  That is 20 minutes of my life I will never get back.  Perhaps some North American teammate of Semin and Malkin should take the 2 ladies aside and teach them some finer points of dropping the gloves.  Displays like these embarrass the whole team and not just the player involved.  Damn funny though.
