I’ve Got 99 Problems (And NJ is One…)

It’s become obvious now to even non-Devils fans: The Devils have some problems. After losing to the Flames last Friday 5-3, the Devils got blanked by the league-worst Oilers, 2-0. The Devils are 3-6-1 in their last 10 games. If, in the first three months of the season, you had told me that the Devils would acquire Ilya Kovalchuk and that by March 7th they would only have 10 wins out of 25 games, I’d say you were crazy. But that’s how it stands.

Bergfors: Big Problem?

Rookie Niclas Bergfors has had a hell of a season. When the season started he came out swinging. He got his first point, an assist, in the first game of the season, against the Flyers. He got two goals and four assists in October, four goals and six assists in November, and seven goals and three assists in December. He even got two goals in a 3-2 win against the Capitals on November 4th and has scored a goal in all four games against the Penguins. For a while, he was neck-and-neck with John Tavares for the title of "highest scoring rookie". But January has not been kind to Bergfors.
