Pens top Bruins 3-0 MAF gets his first shut out of the season
Mar 19th, 2010 | By shannybaby99 | Category: Articles, NHL, PenguinsBoston Bruins. Last night was the first rematch of the Pens vs Bruins after the now infamous Matt Cooke hit on Marc Savard. The Boston media had a hit out on Matt Cooke posting his face in a wanted poster all over their newspapers; one fan even got involved by parking in the lot at the Garden blocking the entrance into the bus parking spot. He claimed he “wanted to fight the whole team” that is according to Bob Errey what the Boston fan wanted to do. Either way Bruins players and fans alike were pissed and wanted to prove that they were ready for revenge.
However, there was no revenge to be found. All Boston had to offer were two lousy fights and 17 SOG. Really Boston? I mean they didn’t step up when Savard got laid out, what makes this game any different? The entire game was dominated by Pittsburgh, taking away all possible opportunities for goals. I was expecting this game to feel like a game 7 high energy atmosphere with both teams equally wanting that win. The Pens wanting it to prove they’re above what happened and it’s time to move on, and the Bruins wanting the win because they want to step it up for Savard.
I’m excited for the win! The Pens played a fabulous game and Marc-Andre Fleury secured his first shutout of the season. Pittsburgh scored a goal per period the first goal scored by Tyler Kennedy his 10th of the season, second by Alexei Ponikarovsky his 21st second as a Pittsburgh Penguin and third goal scored by Mike Rupp his 13th of the season. My highlight of the game was when Chara went after Rupp, he held his own against the monstrous Slovakian who reaches 6 ft 9 inches on skates, talk about unevenly matched.
Not much else to say on this game. I’m so excited for MAF, he played an awesome game saving all 17 shots CONGRATS!! The Pens are 42-24-5 222 total goals for 202 total goals against and are 6-2-2 in the last 10 games. They have 89 points and are one point ahead of the NJ Devils. Tomorrow’s game is against the Carolina Hurricanes and Monday is against Detroit, a match up that never fails to be entertaining. I have a feeling my next post is going to have some Stanley Cup overtones and flashbacks.
LET’S GO PENS!
