Overtime is the New Regulation

I don’t know if anyone has noticed lately, but it seems more and more games are going to overtime. Is this the quality of play or is this just a lack of offensive effort until the last 3 minutes of the 3rd period? For the Stars, everyone wants to blame the defense…the defense let the goals in, the defense didn’t make the save, etc etc. However, if I’m not mistaken, the offense could do a lot about that. If you aren’t scoring but the other team is…is that defense’s fault? If we go to a shootout and 2 in 11 score- is that defense’s fault? Sometimes I wonder if the Stars are just trying to rack up more overtime games than any other team. Other times, I just wish Marc Crawford was fixing the problem. Either way, more away games until Saturday which makes this Season Ticket holder a sad panda. Two weeks without seeing fresh ice, watching the warm-up and screaming at the ref is toooooo long!

Until next overtime, I mean regulation….

@Chrisnadeau I'd like to agree but that doesn't excuse the Stars behavior. We have the talent, Modano, Morrow, Riberio, RObidas, etc etc etc.....Maybe it effects everyone, but we've got the talent.

There are a lot of teams that have players that are just as, if not more, quality than the Stars. Chris is right. The majority of teams in the NHL can compete for their division and a playoff spot.
The competitive level is crazy, which in turn makes for better hockey.
  • I don't think it is anyone's fault on the ice. I think you are seeing the effects of the salary cap. Parity in the NHL has never been this good. Just look at the standings and see how tightly bunched first to last place is. This was never like this before the salary cap.
