Habs Mid-Season Report Card

The Habs 4-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators, on Monday, marked the official mid-point of their season. Having now played 41 games and with ALMOST the entire team healthy, I thought it was a good time to review the 1st half of the season. I have provided an overall review, a look at special teams and grades for each player CURRENTLY on the roster broken

Gagne Nets Hat Trick, Flyers Bury Rangers 6-0

What a difference a week can make.  Last week the Philadelphia Flyers, on a 3-13-1 skid, stumbled out of South Philly to kick off a 6-game road trip.  After the first 4 games, they surprisingly have yet to lose. In probably their most complete effort of the entire season, the Flyers clicked on all cylinders for a full 60 minutes tonight in beating the New

Flyers-Rangers Gameday

With the NHL Winter Classic game looming on Friday, the Philadelphia Flyers take on the New York Rangers tonight at Madison Square Garden.  Riding their first 3-game win streak in two months, head coach Peter Laviolette stressed the importance of keeping the focus on tonights game and not on all of the hype surrounding their New Years Day game against the Boston Bruins in the Classic at Fenway Park.  As

Ailing Flyers Hit Road, Start Win Streak

Sometimes all it takes is a road trip for a struggling team to turn their fortunes around. After losing 4-1 at the Wachovia Center to the Florida Panthers on December 21st, the Philadelphia Flyers were in a dreadful 3-13-1 skid and free falling out of playoff contention.  They had just finished an 0-2-1 mini-home stand, and were just 1-6-1 in their last 8 home games.  Philadelphia stood next to last in

Canadian Sports Media is a Humbug!

This time of year always brings a smile to my face, and not for the reason most others look forward to this season.  Oh the being with loved ones, visits from Kris Kringle, and the liberal flow of liquid spirits are darn fine reasons to enjoy the holidays.  But for me, Yuletide brings the start of the greatest hockey tournament of the year; the World Jr’s!  The IIHF Under 20

Flyers in Need of Major Surgery

Flyers in Need of Major Surgery

If the Philadelphia Flyers were a person, the diagnosis would be an easy one.  A heart transplant would be in order.  But being the “surgeon” for a group of players that make up a team, GM Paul Holmgren has his work cut out for him.  After last nights embarrassing 4-1 home loss to the Florida Panthers, Homer’s “patient” is on life support and barely clinging to its collective playoff life. This was

Don’t hold your breath Biron

Islanders goalie Martin Biron will most likely be traded at some point this season. The key is to not rush into this move, and Snow is much smarter then we all think he is. Read on to find out what I mean.....

Flyers-Panthers Gameday

Flyers-Panthers Gameday

Tonight could be a make or break game for the entire Philadelphia Flyers season as they take on the Florida Panthers at the Wachovia Center.  Why would a pre-Christmas game against the Panthers be so integral?  Sitting alone in the 14th spot in the Eastern Conference standings, tonights game could provide enough emotion to shake the Flyers out of their month-plus funk. Tonight is the third meeting between these two teams,
