Being a Habs fan I can say this. It is unfortunate that politics as heavily as it does, weighs in on each game played with the Montreal Canadiens. Heaven forbid there is not enough "French" presence or attention given. I fully concur that it was unfortunate how players of French backgrounds were treated such as the cause for "Rocket" Richard to start a revolution and backlash against the Anglo powerhouses of the day but come on. Those days are long gone and it's time we get down to playing hockey, icing the best players regardless of background. If some tribal jungle native is good enough to lace em up, then by all means tell him to lay down his bow and arrow, and have him or her start firing some pucks.

I understand there is a heritage and tradition to keep, however I often think the true product is overshadowed by a political agenda in Montreal that could really care less about great hockey.
