Stars hold off rally, win in OT

The game was going scoreless until 6 minutes into the 2nd when Razor had to say the game was scoreless and then Tampa Bay scored. The Stars then scored a pair of power play goals to give them the lead going into the 3rd. That also included Jere Lehtinen’s 1st goal of the season. Tampa Bay surged to tie with a power play goal from Steven Stamkos and an even strength goal by former Star Jeff Halpern. Tommy Wandell scored for Dallas in OT to give Big D the victory. Buffalo Sabres Stop the Skid

Friday’s game against the Flyers, and tonight’s game against the Hurricanes could not have been more different.  The game against the Flyers was an all out battle on the ice with both teams playing with emotion and determination.  There were some big hits, including Kaleta’s hit against Ross, which earned him a two game suspension, and plenty of fights.  Rivet and Carcillo couldn’t stop going

Flyer’s Win Streak Against Thrashers Ends With 5th Loss in 6 Games

After falling 1-0 to the Atlanta Thrashers, the Philadelphia Flyers 14 game winning streak against the Thrashers is now history.  They have now dropped 5 of their last 6 games and will welcome the upcoming break to try and rally the troops and to heal their walking wounded as their next game isn’t until Thursday night against the Vancouver Canucks in Philadelphia. Losing center Jared Ross to injury in yesterdays

Sabres’ Kaleta Suspended Two Games for Hit on Flyers’ Ross

The NHL has suspended Buffalo’s Patrick Kaleta two games for his hit on Philadelphia’s Jared Ross in yesterdays 4-2 Sabres’ victory at the Wachovia Center. The hit came midway through the first period when Ross had control of the puck behind the Flyer net and turned to pass it along the boards.  Ross appeared to see Adam Mair coming from the other side of the net and started to turn the other direction, not seeing Kaleta bearing down on him from behind.  Kaleta came in full speed and drove Ross’ head into the glass. Kaleta received a 5-minute major and a game misconduct.

Flyers: Hockey Night in…Atlanta

Flyers: Hockey Night in…Atlanta

The matchup tonight pitting the Philadelphia Flyers against the Atlanta Thrashers has some very interesting features to think about in addition to what should be a fantastic battle between two teams that are tied in the Eastern Conference standings.  The Flyers have beaten the Thrashers 14 consecutive times they have met, currently the longest winning streak of any NHL team against another. All indications point to Atlanta breaking the Flyer

Kings stymied by Luongo in BC

After a disappointing debut for Andrei Loktionov, who dislocated his shoulder after being called up to replace normal second line center Jarret Stoll, the Kings went deeper into the organization, signing Brayden Schenn to a one-game tryout.  With Schenn already in town to play an exhibition against a Russian team, Dean Lombardi made the unorthodox move to give this past year’s 5th overall pick a preview of the highest level

Tim Connolly registered 2 goals and 2 assists and Ryan Miller stopped 31 of 33 shots as the Buffalo Sabres knocked off the Philadelphia Flyers Friday afternoon at the Wachovia Center.  It was the third time these teams had met in the past three weeks, with Buffalo winning two of the three, both on Philadelphia’s home ice. Buffalo came into the game claiming they had not been getting any bounces

Islanders finally feel at home

Written on November 27th, 2009 by ACHockeyGuys

On Wednesday night the New York Islanders returned home from a seven game road trip that spanned out over thirteen days. The road trip had it’s ups and downs for the “Isles” but they returned home with a mission accomplished.  Scott Gordon wanted to have the club return home at or above .500 from the trip, and the team did just that returning 3-2-2. The first game back was a

Top Hockey Twitter Tweeple Poll

Written on November 27th, 2009 by Alfie

Alfie is looking to write a blog about interesting and well followed Hockey Twitter People (or Tweeple).  This is not intended to be a popularity contest and nor will anyone be awarded the belt for being crowned the champ unless you express otherwise.  Let me know in the feedback section.  My intention is to help expose people, not upset people so tell me if this is a good idea or not.  Should I crown someone, etc?.  Let’s have some fun with this and help me gather some hockey tweeple to blog about.  If someone is not on the list, please add your selection in “other”. I would view this more as a survey then a vote per se. View Poll
