Mike Danton is not telling truth about his “Hit” attempt

Or is he?

Many of you in the hockey world know this story (at least how the media portrays it) where Mike Danton is convicted of putting a hit out on his agent David Frost and served a number of years in US prison.  Danton in his composed sit down with Nick Kypreos insists that the “hit” was actually put out on his biological father.  Is he telling the truth?  You be the judge, however there are a few tell tell signs that something doesn’t add up in full.

Hats off to Kypers on a classy and job well done despite big media’s spin to get an “exclusive” and quick mass exposure hit (this story had over 100k viewers, quite impressive in its own right). So some things don’t add up, and the events are as bizarre as it gets, and packs more punch for entertainment then the surreal life or Flava fave on Much Music. It reminds me (from a humour perspective) of a time my oldest brother had one of his many house party’s when my parents were away.  All is well except there is this massive hole in the hallway wall which doesn’t get noticed or repaired in time for when my parents return.  So my Father asks “what happened (already knowing full well what happened) to the wall?” and the best my brother could throw back at him was that they were cleaning up from having a few people over the night before (the house was blocked full. He know how to throw a good party.) and he got an electric shock from a short in the vacuum cord that drove him into the wall, hence the massive hole.  Well for those of you who know my brother you are probably laughing by now because he is a big guy and it would have to take one hell of an electric shock to move him. So as my father said, if you are going to make up a story, make one up better then that.

There is no doubt Danton has a messed up story and some things are arguably not adding up.  Elliotte Friedman of the CBC has an interesting add in below that is very much worth reading.  Good guy?  Hey nobody is perfect and things happen in life and until you walk a mile in a man’s shoes who are we to judge or to fully understand.  Just as Danton might have been brainwashed by certain members in his surroundings, so are we by a spin on stories and omission of key facts. I always say there are 3 sides to a story: yours, mine, and the stuff in between.

He admits to making mistakes and he seems to have matured from the circumstance and now wants a return to the show. Does he deserve it?  I absolutely think he does.  Past demons haunt the best of people and bad decisions are made as a result, and maybe the true criminal(s) did not serve the time.  And to Mike Danton.  Good luck with your comeback.  The story doesn’t add up but that doesn’t make you a bad person.  Alfie would have a beer with you any day!

Getting ready to lace em up so keep your stick on the ice (who am I playing tonight?),
