Neal

TORONTO (November 20, 2009) – Dallas Stars’ forward James Neal has been suspended for two games, without pay, for delivering a hit from behind that caused injury to Derek Dorsett of the Columbus Blue Jackets in NHL game #304, November 19, the National Hockey League announced today.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Neal will forfeit $8,515.00. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

The incident occurred at 13:01 of the second period and Neal was assessed a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct.

Neal will miss games vs. New Jersey (Nov. 21) and Carolina (Nov. 23). He will be eligible to return on Nov. 25 vs. St. Louis.

My reflection is this should not have been the only suspension from last night; Oh and Btw Neal NEVER dropped his gloves last night and it was a clean hit to me.

Exactly! It's almost enough to make you want to stop watching hockey...almost...

Yeah there really isn't much need to a two game suspension here. The 5 minute major for boarding was the right call. There have been many worse checks that never resulted in a suspension.

The league just felt like flexing their suspension pipes.
