BOSTON BRUINS BLOGGER, NOV.20

The Bruins pulled out a big 2-1 OT win against the Buffalo Sabres tonight.  Patrice Bergeron tipped in a Zdeno Chara point shot past Ryan Miller 47 seconds into the overtime period.

This game was dominated by the two netminders, Tuukka Rask made 25 saves and Miller made 24.  Both goalies looked top notch between the pipes each making their fair share of highlight saves.

Paul Gaustad got things rolling in the 1st for the Sabres scoring his fifth of the year on the powerplay.

Milan Lucic, playing in his second game back from injury, scored his first of the season on a great pass from Byron Bitz in the second period.  Blake Wheeler had a great game, he was constantly in front of Miller and getting chances.  His play over the last few games has been impressive and I could see Wheels playing with Savard and Lucic very soon.

Rask has now won back-to-back game for the Bruins, as win their first two of a five game road trip.  Rask also got his first assist and point of his career.

Bergeron has looked like he is getting back to his old self.  He netted his 7th goal of the season and the Bruins are looking solid with Savvy coming back having Savard-Bergeron-Krecji playing centre on their top three lines, then having Steve Begin manning the fourth line.

Boston is looking more and more like the team from last year with each game played.  They still have a few adjustments that need to be made, getting Savvy back will definitely help.  They will have the weekend off and back to work Monday against the Blues.  Savard is likely to be playing in that game.

Overall, it was a well-played game by both teams.  At times the Bruins looked to be the better team, five minutes later the opposite.  It’s a shame they couldn’t have scored 47 seconds earlier and saved the Sabres from getting a point, but I will take any points they can manage to obtain.
