Welcome back Pat

It should come as no surprise to anyone who knows that the NHL is just an old-boys club that the Oilers hired Pat Quinn to be their new bench boss.  You see, the Oilers General Manager is Steve Tambellini and Steve-o cut his teeth in hockey management with the Vancouver Canucks back when Pat Quinn ran that team.  Pat eventually got fired by the Canucks and ended up with the Toronto Maple Leafs where after a few years and some astute backroom powerplay moves, ended up as the coach and GM.  Then when the brainiacs at MLSE wanted to move Quinn out of the GM position of the Leafs and bring in new blood, Quinn pushed for Tambellini to get the job.  Quinn’s last ditch attempt to keep control of the power was foiled and John Ferguson Jr. got to be top dog only because he agreed to be treated like a mutt by the MLSE board.  But one good deed deserves another in the boys club and Steve-o paid his old boss back by giving him a job.  Not that Quinn can’t do what is needed in Edmonton.  He will pay back his old underling and new boss by getting the Oil back into the playoffs.  Just what he was hired to do.  And I like having the bombastic old Irishman in the NHL.  He gives good quotes.
