Farewell #25

May 27th, 2009 | By Greener | Category: Greener

I was saddened to hear the news that Peter Zezel had passed away yesterday at the age of 44.  Like many Maple Leafs fans, I will always remember him as a part of those good Leafs teams of the early nineties.  A center on a line with Bill Berg and Mark Osborne, Zezel was a huge part of the Leafs run to back-to-back semi finals in ’93-’94.

There is not much I can really say about the man.  I never knew him personally.  I just saw him on TV trying his hardest every shift.  He was not the guy I wanted to see on a breakaway, but I was happy he was there to take the important faceoff in the dying seconds of the game.  But yesterday he lost his final faceoff and I will have a pint or two in his honor this weekend.  Thanks for the memories Zets.
